1 COMPETITION LAW - Useful information -
Prof. Avv. Valerio Cosimo Romano

2 Structure of the course
This course is structured in three parts. The first part (Introduction) introduces students to the history, objectives and basic notions of competition law. The second part (Core) analyzes in depth the main cases of the subject (horizontal and vertical restrictions, unilateral conduct of dominant companies). The third part of the course (Special Topics) examines the main minor areas, including state aid, merger control and public and private enforcement of competition law.

3 Textbook and Exam Van Den Bergh, Comparative Competition Law and Economics, Edward Elgar (excerpts, please refer to the full syllabus available on my personal page) Students may take a midterm written exam on the first part of the course, which will be evaluated with a “pass” or “fail” mark. A “pass” mark exonerates the student from preparing the first part of the course for the final exam. The final exam is oral and individual. Active participation in the class concurs in determining the final mark.
