2 What is Marijuana? Marijuana is a mix of dried flowers, stems, leaves from a hemp plant known as the Cannabis Sativa. The main chemical is tetrahydrocannabinol or THC. This chemical moves quickly throughout the bloodstream to effect the brain and other organs.

8 Forms of Addiction Marijuana has both physical and psychological addiction properties. Physical effects such as craving the use of the drug are very apparent in users, but even more apparent are the psycological properties as the drug contains much more mental effects rather than physical.

9 Legal Issues Possession of marijuana grants you a misdemeanor, 1 year of jail and a 2,000 dollar fine Selling marijuana gives you a felony charge, anywhere from 1-15 years of prison and 1,000-10,000,000 dollars depending on the amount sold. Cultivation of marijuana plants gives you a felony, 4-15 years in prison, and between 20,000-10,000,000 dollars depending on how many plants were cultivated.
