Keep track of your accomplishments See the threads that binds your body of work together Have document ready for when you want to present yourself as an expert Nominations for awards Document is ready if interested in contract work Preparing for Promotion!

What to consider in preparing your CV for P&T
Provides an overview of complexity in your academic experience Keep in mind it is your dossier packet being assessed by the promotion and tenure committees at all levels on campus and administrators Outside reviewers will only receive and assess your CV and representative publications

Tips for your CV The Do’s Details are important
Have a trusted, senior member of your department look over it Separate your scholarly contributions (ex. peer-reviewed journal articles from peer-reviewed conference proceedings) Details on grant activity – Title of grant, PI or CoPI, sponsor or agency, percent effort, active period, amount of grant dollars – Ensure this is accurate! Provide details on your teaching experiences (ex. brief course description, when taught, number of students in each class) Service – Divide into service to your professional societies (indicate if regional, national, or international), System-wide, Campus, College, and Departmental

Tips for your CV The Don’ts Sell yourself short
Expect everyone to read the whole document List employment not related to your academic work Include photos, date of birth or other personal biographical information Have inconsistent formatting or fonts that are difficult to read – Keep in mind, the people reading your CV and dossier are likely doing so on a computer screen
