Why is an ASAM Level of Care Certification Needed?
Provides an independent assessment of a program capacity to provide care with fidelity to an ASAM Criteria Level of Care Supports adoption of standards of care to improve the quality of addiction treatment A tool for states, payers, and healthcare systems to support their efforts to implement the ASAM Criteria with fidelity Provide patients and families, and other stakeholders with confidence that a program has the capacity to provide the appropriate level of care CERTIFIED When it’s time to get help, people are at their most vulnerable. Admitting that there is a problem is hard enough, now they have to figure out which programs can deliver the best care for them or their loved one. The ASAM Certification provides information regarding which programs are capable of delivering the most appropriate care for an individual patient

The ASAM Criteria can play a critical role in advancing treatment standards for addiction care With recent expansion in use, ASAM sees a growing trend of misuse of The ASAM Criteria by some treatment providers and payers The ASAM Criteria copyright and permissions process will be updated to include agreements that will enable parties to publicly reference their use of The ASAM Criteria Agreements with States and other public entities will be free Fees for providers will be modest, enough to cover the costs associated with ensuring reliable and consistent representation of the use of The ASAM Criteria
