Let's say we want to access domain - reliablescribe.com First we need to buy a computer We need to subscribe to an Internet Service Provider (ISP) The ISP will provide access to the Internet, a modem and a physical connection from their access point to the modem in our home. Next we connect the modem provided by the ISP company to our computer using an Ethernet Cable. Web Site Server Type the Uniform Resource Locator - URL (http://reliablescribe.com) in the browser on our computer to start the process. The ISP receives the URL but must convert that value to an address called an IP address. The ISP server consults with a Domain Name Server to convert the URL to an IP address. DNS are distributed through-out the Internet environment. Any DNS will do. The ISP server has no idea where or how to connect to reliablescribe.com. It depends on many intelligent Internet devices called Routers to find the way. The ISP server must next send the request to the Internet for the reliablescribe.com home page by specifying the IP address. DNS ISP Server Router The reliablescribe.com server returns the first page to the same address that originated the request which is associated with our computer. The return route may not be the same path as the original request.
