2 Figure 1 Comparison of T levels with polymorphisms in CYP11A1 and CYP17 genes, in control subjects and subjects with PCOS. Bars with similar superscripts are statistically significantly different. (a): Comparison of CYP11A1 polymorphic 6R groups and nonpolymorphic 4R groups in control subjects and subjects with PCOS (a: P=.008, b: P<.0001, c: P<.0001). In subjects with PCOS, the hormone levels in the polymorphic 6R group was significantly elevated compared with the nonpolymorphic 4R group. A similar comparison in controls did not show any significant differences.(b): Comparison of T levels in individuals with wild-type T genotype and polymorphic C genotype in control subjects and subjects with PCOS (a, b, c: P<.0001). In subjects with PCOS, the hormone levels in the polymorphic C group were significantly elevated compared with the nonpolymorphic T group in subjects with PCOS. A similar comparison in controls did not show any significant differences.(c): Combined effect of polymorphisms in CYP11A1 and CYP17 on T levels in control subjects (a: P<.01).(d): Combined effect of polymorphisms in CYP11A1 and CYP17 on T levels in subjects with PCOS (a, b: P<.05; c, d: P<.01; e: P<.0001). An additive effect on T levels was seen in the subjects with PCOS. Fertility and Sterility  , DOI: ( /j.fertnstert ) Copyright © 2009 American Society for Reproductive Medicine Terms and Conditions
