Explanations for changes are given in the annotated version
The questionnaire may not fully satisfy the specifications of all countries
but seems to reflect the emerging consensus of the majority
Any radical change is likely to prove contentious

8. Questions on violence between intimates have been successfully used in CATI - conducted surveys in Canada, USA, UK and Sweden.
Ideally, the new questionnaire (including its new screeners on violence) should be pilot tested in some EU countries

As data collection is mainly to take place in second semester 2013, we have restructured questions on timing to identify victimisations over past 12 months more accurately
Questions on seriousness deleted but replaced by question for burglaries on value stolen
questions on emotional problems remain
Question on burglary insurance added
Question on hate crime restricted to ethnicity (for sake of clarity)
