Limits As PAs we get trained at PA seminars, but we are not professional counselors. If we think an issue is beyond us, we can refer you to a professional. Thu

Confidentiality Everything you tell us is confidential.
We can only breach confidentiality under these circumstances: When we think you’re going to harm yourself or someone else. When you do something illegal. If these things happen, we have to notify the Japanese PA, who will then take the appropriate action. Cultural Heads-Up: Confidentiality in Japan is different than what we might expect from back home. If something is confidential in Japan, it is part of the whole office, not just the individual. With the CIR and ALT PAs, we will keep things just between us. Confidentiality Everything you tell us is confidential. Hana

Kindly refrain from asking us…
Feel free to… Kindly refrain from asking us… Contact us if you have a problem that you need to talk about, especially if you want it to be kept confidential. Ask us about medical referrals, Japanese law, getting your driver’s license, etc. Call us in an emergency (You should do this!) Things that your JET Handbook could answer. Things the Saga JET website can answer. Things that your DR could answer better than we could. Hana

The grass is sometimes greener …
Thu It is up to the Contracting Organization whether or not they choose to alter the standard contract sent out by CLAIR. As a result, the specifics of your contract may vary slightly or significantly from those of your fellow Saga JETs.
13
HANDLE YOUR SCANDAL. Saga is small and you probably stand out.
It’s important to live your life and be yourself, but it might be in your best interest to use more discretion than you would back home, especially if you want to keep things private. Hana
14
CHECK yourself before you WRECK yourself.
Thu If you have a problem, a concern, or something is bothering you, take care of it before it gets worse. If you feel like you need to talk to someone, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
