To be excused from online HW due to technical problems, MUST have parent note and must arrive at school early enough to complete assignment before class begins. PLEASE do not punish from school-related computer tasks.

3 Accelerated Reader Independent reading is critical for reading growth at this age. Look for “Home Connect” letters to monitor progress from home. Students should earn about 1 point per day, which is minutes of reading. Assigned reading should be recorded in planners. Students in leadership roles must be up-to-date on AR goal achievement.

4 EQTs Quarterly EQTs are given in reading, math, and science during the last week of the quarter. EQTs account for 20% of the total quarterly grade.

5 Grading iNOW is available 24/7 from any Internet-accessible computer or Smart Phone. Students in school leadership roles must maintain a C average to be eligible for and to continue in those roles. Formal progress reports will be distributed at mid-quarter.

6 Retesting Policy Students will NOT be permitted to retest on tests that require only effort, not ability (vocabulary tests, timed fact drills, spelling tests, etc.). A student’s retest will replace the original grade, but with a maximum score of 70.

7 Planners Purpose: student responsibility, time management.
HW, test dates, and reminders are copied from the board in each class, and planners are REQUIRED to be completed every day. PACE students are responsible for recording homework before departing to PACE.

8 Conduct 10 points possible per week. Grades entered in iNow each week.
Only students who have an S for the quarter are eligible for Honor Roll and leadership positions. PLEASE sign up for a Class Dojo parent account, which will allow you to track your child’s school behavior and work ethic.

9 Work Study / Homework 10 points possible per week.
Homework points result in double Dojo demerits. Must maintain an S average to be eligible for Honor Roll and leadership positions. Weekly averages entered into iNow each week.

10 Birthdays We are happy to help celebrate your child’s birthday!
Please, however, be mindful that your child’s birthday is not an event that would warrant a disruption of our instructional day. If sending birthday snacks, they should be easy to distribute, nut-free, and not require utensils, plates, etc. (i.e.: cupcakes rather than sheet cakes, etc.). Please send snacks with your child in the morning, and we will distribute them at a point in our day that would be least disruptive.

11 Conferences Our planning period is from 2:00 until 2:30 each day, but other times may be available. PLEASE avoid these types of conferences: - pop-ins (unscheduled) before, during, or after school, school-events (Open House, Math Night, etc.), grocery store/restaurant/ball game, and carpool/hallway/parking lot, etc.

12 Contacting Us BEST CHOICE: through the Dixon website or directly: Dojo message Phone: (Dixon) Note with child/sibling/neighbor
