3
Scientific Aims Polar ozone loss
Chemistry and dynamics of the UTLS, particularly in the tropics leading to a better understanding of ozone and UV radiation over mid-latitudes ozone - climate interactions; predictive ability
4
International Satellite Validation
VINTERSOL extends planned activities: ENVISAT - commissioning validation time, species measured ILAS 2 SAGE III - SOLVE 2 and provides additional validation for GOME, ODIN, POAM.
5
satellites, ground-based, in service aircraft, modelling, assimilation
Main Phases Arctic studies in 2002/03 winter/spring EUPLEX, QUOBI, CIPA/POSTA, MAPSCORE, etc. Antarctic ozone loss in the June-November 2003 QUOBI, etc. Major tropical campaign in Jan-March 2004 HIBISCUS, TROCCINOX, etc. On-going activities satellites, ground-based, in service aircraft, modelling, assimilation
