3 Organic compound Makes up all life forms, occurs naturally in living things and consist of mainly CARBON and HYDROGEN

4 Inorganic compound Does NOT contain carbon or hydrogen together and is NOT made from living matter Examples: salt, water, carbon dioxide

5 Amino acids A special organic molecule used by living organisms to make proteins

6 carbohydrate Can be a simple sugar or complex sugar that the body breaks down into glucose which is used to feed the body

7 lipids Fats, steroids, and waxes that do not dissolve in water and are used as energy storage in our bodies

8 Proteins A nutrient found in food that is made of amino acids which are essential for life

9 Nucleic acids Large molecules where genetic formation is stored; made up of a nitrogenous base and type of sugar

10 OUT Complete the T chart by providing examples of food that are carbohydrates and proteins. CARBOHYDRATES PROTEINS
