5 Road to a healthier Environment
With the growth of cities, there was an increasing number of services to provided, i.e. trash pickup and police Housing Reforms began in NYC. The Tenement Act of 1901 forced landlords to install lighting in public hallways and to provide one toilet for every two families.

11 Terms to know An initiative allows voters to put a proposed low on the ballot for public approval. The referendum allows citizens to place a recently passed law on the ballot, reject or pass law. The recall enables citizens to remove an elected official from office by calling for a special election.
