Summary: The author talks about gun control. Analysis: The author uses emotional pleas and an overwhelming amount of gun violence statistics to support this argument for tighter gun safety measures.

Summary: The author tells us about why we should vote for the candidate.
Analysis: In order to persuade minority voters who are struggling in the current economic climate to vote for her, the candidate shares a personal story to show that she has also experienced economic hardship, and can relate to their problems.

Summary says “what” the author is saying.
Analysis says “why” they are saying it (to persuade their audience to do/believe something), and “how” they are creating their argument (what strategies do they use?) how do they use the evidence they provide?
