4 Mastery Based Education
What do we want our students to know and do? Essential standards How will we know when they have learned it? Assessments What will we do when they have not learned it? Differentiation, Response to Intervention (RtI), special education What will we do to extend learning when they already know it? Differentiation, extended learning resources

5 Math @ 8:30 www.greatminds.org Huge resource!
Eureka approaches math differently than the way you may have been taught in school. More conceptual, less computational Math facts fluency Sums & differences to 100 Place value, counting and comparing to 1,000 Addition and subtraction within 1,000 and word problems to 100 Foundations of multiplication and division Problem solving with lengths, money and data/graphs Telling time, shapes and an introduction to fractions Huge resource!

6 Reading @ 9:45 Reading is 90 minutes.
The first part is whole group instruction. Split into groups to focus on specific student needs. This differentiation is designed to meet students at their level to maximize their reading skills. 13 It takes a village… It does take a village to raise a child!
Your child will make mistakes. We expect mistakes and try to turn errors into learning opportunities. We look forward to working with you and helping your child to be as successful as possible now, and for the future! GOAL: Home to school connection as strong as possible. Big team working together

15 Your child is like a car The major parts of their lives are the wheels. (School, Family, Friends, Extra Curriculars, etc…) When a wheel falls off because of instability, the entire car suffers! The entire child suffers, and then the other wheels can’t perform as well either Create a routine and schedule They don’t have to worry about as many things, if they can have a consistent expectation of when meals and school work will be done. Active parenting causes stability
