The Babylonians By: Emma, Gabriela, Julia, and Kieran

2 About Babylon The Hanging Gardens of Babylon were very beautiful. They had colorful flowers and fruits all around the ziggurat, they even had statues made of gold for all to see. The only problem was, Babylon had very little rain. They knew that mud brick would be destroyed so they built an irrigation system out of asphalt, stone, and tiles. The King of Babylon did all of this for his wife who felt homesick from her very tropical home.

3 What the City Was Like The city was in a very dry climate with the only water sources as its surrounding rivers, the Tigris and Euphrates. The city had an amazing irrigation system that allowed every plant to have enough water. They could also have a lot of drinking water. They could also have pools with the water to make it seem like an ocean for the King’s homesick wife.

4 Religion The Babylonians were Polytheistic, much like the Sumerians.
They had gods for everyday household items, weather, and an overall god for their civilization. They also had mythology that included heroes and mythological creatures. They also had a New Year celebration which they considered the rebirthing of Earth. They believed in religious idols which were basically role models.

5 Babylonian Kings They have had many Kings: Shamash-mudammiq
Nabu-shar-ishkun I Nabu-apal-iddin Marduk-nadin-shum Marduk-balatsu-iqbi Bau-akh-iddin And many, many more…
