Job’s Story Satan attacks again! Satan attacks!
Purpose – cause him to curse God (1:9-11) Raiders kill servants, steal oxen, donkeys (1:14-15) Fire fell from sky and burned up sheep and servants (1:17) Chaldeans raided camels and killed servants (1:17) Wind collapsed house on children, killing all (1:19) In all this, Job did not sin! (1:22) Satan attacks again! Boils from head to foot (2:7) Wife encourages to curse God (2:9) Job still does not sin (2:9-10)

Job’s Complaint Exalts God (9:3)
Feels he cannot bring his complaint before God (9:17) Feels God has brought this calamity on him and desires the explanation (10:1-2) Why do the wicked prosper? (21:7-9) “If only I could present my case” (23:1-7) Difficulty reconciling his calamity with his righteous life and God’s own righteousness and power

If you speak as judge, show power and do something about it! Rather adopt the attitude of Rom 3:4 “…let God be true but every man a liar. As it is written: ‘That you may be justified in Your words, And may overcome when You are judged.’” Mighty creatures beyond Job’s control Behemoth (40:15-24) Leviathan (41)

“I have declared that which I did not understand, Things too wonderful for me, which I did not know.” (Job 42:3, NASB) Our Responsibility “Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.” (1 Pet 5:6, NASB)
