The Holocaust Begins Some Germans blamed Jews for WWI
Nuremburg Laws of 1935 took away Jews rights of German citizenship November 7, 1938 – German diplomat killed by a Jew November 9 Kristallnacht occurs Jewish businesses and homes burned, many Jews killed Afterwards many Jews flee Hitler forces Jews to move to ghettos in poor condition Jews keep their traditions alive

The “Final Solution” Hitler grew impatient and turned to his Final Solution – plan of genocide The SS rounded up Jews and killed them near pits that became mass graves Some Jews sent to concentration camps to work as slaves in horrible conditions In 1942 extermination camps open Largest is Auschwitz Killed millions in gas chambers Some escaped with the help of non-Jews
