2. I. Rwanda History Rwanda was a Belgian colony.
Rwanda had two ethnic groups the Hutu and the Tutsis.
The Belgians used the Tutsi to rule and oppress the Hutu people.
When the Belgians left, the Hutus began killing the Tutsis.

3. II. The Genocide
During 1994, in approximately100 days nearly one million Tutsi people were killed in Rwanda by the Hutu dominated government.
The killing was well organized and by the time it had started, the Rwandan militia numbered around 30,000 .
