Outline of this presentation Preparation of LLL related surveys: 2010 Continuing Vocational Training Survey (CVTS) and 2011 Adult Education Survey (AES); Report on the 2005 Continuing Vocational Training Survey and follow- up; Indicators on education and training for the monitoring of the Europe strategy; Other information related to the dissemination of education and training data;  Educational attainment: see ISCED workshop.

3 - Continuing Vocational Training Survey (CVTS)
Preparation of field work for 2 surveys related to lifelong learning - Continuing Vocational Training Survey (CVTS) Adult Education Survey (AES) Commission Regulations published mid September 2010 Commission grants support for AES: grant agreements about to be sent (incl. tests of the LFS related data for better coherence) Manuals for the field work: available for both surveys Document on “Frequently Asked Questions” (FAQ) to complement these versions Next steps: - Full manuals in January (information post- data collection) - Standard software in February 2011 - Continuous up-date of the FAQ documents

4 November 2010 (ESSC) discussion on lower priorities
Report on the CVTS to the European Parliament and Council and follow-up Report on the EP/Council Regulation to be submitted to the ESSC in December (written procedure) May 2010 (ESSC: vote for Regulation) need for an extensive review of the survey due to its cost and burden (based on 2010 CVTS results) Some comments received from few countries which dealt more with the next steps (to be considered in the Task Force referred to below) November 2010 (ESSC) discussion on lower priorities January to May 2011: rolling review on education statistics (see next), internal meetings with users in the Commission, Outcomes to be discussed with the Directors of Social Statistics in September 2011: possible constitution of a Task Force for the revision of the EP/Council Regulation.

5 What is a rolling review?
Rolling review on education statistics (incl. CVTS) What is a rolling review? Part of Eurostat Quality Assurance Framework: Two main parts: UOE data and LLL data (CVTS, AES), With connection to LFS although LFS rolling review in 2011/2012. User and partner surveys On Eurostat website (information communicated by when launched) User survey to understand how needs are satisfied (or not) Partner survey especially relevant for UOE (e.g. co-ordination aspects) and CVTS (review requested by the ESSC) Outcomes Results circulated to Member States (detailed report) and disseminated on Eurostat website (summary) For discussion in the ETS WG on the recommendations

6 Europe 2020 headline indicators
Europe 2020: the successor of the Lisbon strategy (June 2010 Council) Two headline indicators: Early leavers from education and training: (former 'early school leavers', age group 18-24) Tertiary educational attainment (new indicator, age group 30-34) Two up-dates per year: data in June (validated by NSIs) Revision in November (23-24)

Other activities 2009 LFS ad-hoc module on 'entry of young people into the labour market‘ Draft evaluation report and first results to be circulated to ETS WG in January (incl. data by orientation such as early leavers from education and training) A priori no Task Force meeting but a discussion in the next ETS WG meeting based on the evaluation report and provisional results (before publication) New educational data on Eurostat website (see next slide) Lifelong learning by age and labour status (in addition to results by sex) Educational attainment by age (incl. tertiary educational attainment for the age group 30-34) Early leavers from education and training by labour status (in addition to results by sex) Regional data from 2008 (NUTS1 only for some indicators) Further development on Eurostat website and Circa (educational data) Dedicated section on "Education and Training 2020" to be developed NEET: Young people neither in employment nor in education and training Breakdowns by migrant status for the main indicators Participation in informal learning (AES data) Circa: some adjustments to be made in the structure of folders
