1 Self-confidence and self-awareness prompts
This is a useful prompt to ensure that self-confidence and self-awareness is covered and taught effectively towards the month age band.

2 Self-confidence and self-awareness
Make sure activities are varied to gain children's interest and build upon their skills. Ensure that all resources are made ready available for their learning e,g. at height level and clearly labelled. Teacher/Parent contact is crucial. Make sure that parents and carers and informed of their child's day and successes. This will create a positive relationship all round and motivate the child. Create a star board where photographs are taken of achievements e.g. playing with a new peer. Children become confident when they are trusted. Create a daily/weekly job list and have monitors. Include the child with their own learning by asking their lies/dislikes. What would they like set up for tomorrow? Can they help adults set up tables? Areas? Plan activities around each child and ensure that experiences cater for all learners. Self-confidence and self-awareness • Can select and use activities and resources with help. • Welcomes and values praise for what they have done. • Enjoys responsibility of carrying out small tasks. • Is more outgoing towards unfamiliar people and more confident in new social situations. • Confident to talk to other children when playing, and will communicate freely about own home and community. • Shows confidence in asking adults for help.
