Mode
2
The mode is simply the number which appears most often.
To find the mode, or modal value, it is best to put the numbers in order. Then count how many of each number. A number that appears most often is the mode. For small set of number , we can arrange then in ascending order and find the number which has the most count Example 1 : Find the mode of the following numbers 19 , 8 , 29 , 35 , 19 , 28 , 15 Solution Arrange them in ascending order: 8 , 15 , 19 , 19 , 28 , 29 , 35 19 appears twice, all the rest appear only once, so therefore 19 is the mode. (ans)

Example 2: Find the mode of the following data.
8 , 5 , 2 , 5 , 6 , 4 , 5 , 2 , 3 , 6 , 3 , 2 Solution: Arrange them in ascending order: 2 , 2 , 2 , 3 , 3 , 4 , 5 , 5 , 5 , 6 , 6 , 8 2 and 5 occur 3 times. Mode of the data is 2 and 5. (Ans) Example 3: Find the mode of the following data 90 , 40 , 68 , 94 , 50 , 60. Solution: Arrange them in ascending order: 40 , 50 , 60 , 68 , 90 , 94 We can see all number occurs one time Here there are no frequently occurring values. Hence this data has no mode. (ans)

For large set of number , we need to create tally marks table and
from the table find the number whose count is greatest Example 2: The number of children in 20 families are 1, 2, 2, 1, 2, 1, 3, 1, 1, 3 , 1, 3, 1, 1, 1, 2, 1, 1, 2, 1. Find the mode. Solution 12 families have 1 child only, so the mode of the data is 1. (ans)

Find the mode of this data. Solution:
Example 3: Following are the margin of victory in the foot ball matches of a league. 1 , 3, 2 , 5 , 1 , 4 , 6 , 2 , 5 , 2 , 2 , 2 , 4 , 1 , 2 , 3 , 2 , 3 , 2 , 3 ,1 , 1 , 2 , 3 , 2 , 6 , 4 , 3, 2 , 1, 1 , 4 , 2 , 1, 5 , 3 , 4 , 2 , 1 , 2. Find the mode of this data. Solution: 2 has occurred the most numbers of times, therefore mode is 2 (ans)
