3 Title Bar The Ribbon Quick Access Toolbar Click on down arrow to Customise this toolbar, by adding the icons that you use most frequently

4 The components of the ribbon - TABS
The active TAB is the one that has no colour Tabs have groups Dialog box launchers Commands

5 Temporarily hide / expand the ribbon
Want more room on your screen? Look up here 8 on the Ribbon Display Options and choose to Auto Hide Ribbon to see no ribbon, or choose Show Tabs to see tabs only. Choose Show Tabs and Commands to see all. Note: if you single 8 on the active tab to get the groups back, it will show you the ribbon WHILE YOU ARE WORKING IN THE RIBBON, but as soon as you go into the document and start working, the ribbon will be hidden again. To see the ribbon permanently, 8 on Ribbon Display options again. Status Bar Indicates Page Number & total pages, Number of words, Language, Layout view, zoom level. When you hover over these areas, you can access dialog boxes, for example: Navigation Pane will open 8 on the Page No you wish to go to or scroll down to find page required. Right 8 on the Status Bar to turn on other options eg Section

6 View Buttons – found on the right hand side of the Status Bar – with Zoom controls
(Note: other views appear under or How to Minimise / Maximise / Close a window These buttons appear at the top right of your screen - tab ) or Restore document by  on it in the taskbar or + Keyboard shortcuts close the active item BUT will not close the program close the active item if more than one item is open or it will quit the program

7 Point the mouse pointer
Screentips Point the mouse pointer just beneath a button you want to identify and a screentip will appear. This is a screen tip Using Help (F1) or “Tell me” (Alt Q) To find out about something in Word use 8 on from the title bar at the top of your screen. A text field where you can enter text to help you complete actions. Click after the lightbulb and you will receive some hints eg or key requirement eg this will take you to the relevant area of Word or you can choose to
