3 Pathway Overview Careers focus on the managerial and business aspects of running a hospital or health care related organization Duties include: admitting patients billing patients educating patients

4 Health Care Administrator
Career description: plan and organize medicine and health services in hospitals, clinics and similar institutions oversee and evaluate work activities of personnel set goals and evaluative criteria

5 Health Care Administrator
Career description: oversee recruitment, hiring and training of personnel create and maintain computerized record management systems

6 Health Care Administrator
Education/training: bachelor’s or master’s degree in health services administration, health sciences or related field Median salary: $86,400

7 Health Information Coder/Transcriptionist
Career description: use transcribing machines to listen and type out recordings by physicians and other healthcare professionals listen to emergency room visits, diagnostic imaging studies, operations and more for transcription purposes

8 Health Information Coder/Transcriptionist
Career description: write out dictated reports and change medical jargon and abbreviations into full forms edit reports and return in printed or electronic form to dictator for review

9 Health Information Coder/Transcriptionist
Education/training: associate’s degree or a one- year certificate program recommended Median salary: $33,310

10 Medical Information Technologist
Career description: gather and manage medical records of hospital and clinic patients manage, gather and report patient information for health requirements and standards guarantee confidentiality of medical records

11 Medical Information Technologist
Career description: oversee patient admission and discharge documents examine records for completeness, accuracy and regulation compliance

12 Medical Information Technologist
Education/training: associate’s degree preferred Median salary: $33,310

13 Medical Assistant Career description:
oversee office and clinical duties following physician orders schedule appointments as well as manage medical records, bills and insurance coding take and record vital signs and medical histories of patients

14 Medical Assistant Career description:
prepare patients for examination, draw blood and administer medications as directed by physician

15 Medical Assistant Education/training: Median salary:
associate’s degree in medical assisting Median salary: $29,100

16 Health Educator Career description:
encourage individual and community health through education gather and review data to identify community health needs help individuals or community in achieving health goals

17 Health Educator Career description:
oversee economic resources for health education programs create and present health education and promotion programs
