Presentations 2012 PBCOHE Annual Conference Harrisburg, PA Fostering Connections through Foreign Languages This presentation discusses the importance of language learning and teaching within the African-American community and highlights the presence of African heritage in many countries that have made significant contributions to those cultures. Suggestions for increasing participation are given.

Presentations 2011 ISLS International Society of Language Studies Oranjestad, Aruba Connections and Comparisons with other Cultures through Games This workshop demonstrates how games played within target cultures can be evaluated for inclusion in language classrooms. Discussions of a variety of possible presentations are suggested allowing the culture to be compared to students’ own culture with valuable insights.

Presentations 2010 CMHS Department of Foreign Languages Mill Hall, PA How Foreign Language Teachers in High School can better prepare students for success in College Language Courses This presentation was requested by local high school teachers to determine what college language professors value in regard to language preparation to succeed in upper level courses at the university.

Presentations 2008 RECAP 2008 (Technology conference) West Chester University, West Chester, PA Using Video-Conference Technology as a Tool for Distant Supervision of Teacher Candidates This presentation presented the idea of using video-conference technology for distant supervision of teacher candidates. Attendees were surveyed and presented with ideas for conducting the research. Grant ($3,500) was awarded in 2009 for this project (LHU Foundation Grant)

University Writing Significant changes in program have consistently required complete rewriting of course requirements and development of teaching materials and assessments. Currently collaborating with a professor in the Criminal Justice Department to construct a text for teaching Spanish to criminal justice majors.
