Alcatel-Lucent Security Products Configuration Example Series

Creating Services and Service Groups
In the ALSMS many services, like HTTP, FTP and so on are pre-configured for you. There are times that you may need to create a new service that isn’t already pre-configured. There are also times that you want to group several services to reduce the number of rules in a rule set or to simplify rule creation. This example will walk you through service creation and service group creation. Alcatel-Lucent Technologies – Proprietary Use pursuant to company instruction
3
Creating Services From the Main Menu in the ALSMS choose the Service Groups folder. In the Service Groups folder you will see about 70 pre-configured services that you can use while making rules. You can create new services whenever you need them. You can also group services together to make rule creation even easier. Note: wherever you click is where your service will be saved. If you would like it in a specific location above or below another service, click in that location. Note that you can also assign a range of ports. You also have the option here to assign an application filter to this service.
