A satisfying sandwich has two slices of bread that “wrap” around a flavorful meat. In written responses, the same is true for crafting an effective body paragraph. Check out this “recipe” for a well-developed body paragraph: Evidence Sandwich Evidence Sandwich Topic Sentence with Context (Top Slice & Tomato) Evidence Tag and Evidence (Lettuce & Meat) Analysis with Concluding Sentence (More Meat, Some Cheese, & Bottom Slice)

The purpose of an evidence sandwich is to ensure that your reader understands your evidence, why you are choosing it, and how it connects to your topic sentence. Good writers who use the evidence sandwich model “leave nothing on the plate,” i.e., they leave nothing left for their readers to wonder or question. Evidence Sandwich
