1 Blended Learning

2 Using Technology Effectively

3

4 Are YOU using a 1000 pencil? Are we effectively using technology? Are our learners passively learning, or actively learning? We need to be using technology in ways that were not possible before. Are we doing something that allows students to learn in a different way? Simply providing technology so a student can type a paper is equivalent to a 1000 pencil. Unless we use technology in a more powerful way, we have wasted opportunities for our students. If past and present classrooms look the same, we need to re-evaluate how we are using technology.

5 Or Are YOU Using Technology to:
Provide Collaboration Small group instruction Resources Differentiation Technology provides boundary less opportunities for students to collaborate with students in other classes or even other countries. Allows for students to receive instruction through technology, to allow students to work with small groups to provide assistance. Students no longer have to rely on teachers for information. They can research make discoveries on their own. Students are able to have lessons tailored to their needs and passions. With access to technology students can work at their own pace, re-watch instruction for more explanation, or move on to the next concept. Self-Pace

6 Combines Traditional Teaching & Online Learning
Blended Learning Combines Traditional Teaching & Online Learning Station Rotation- Students rotate between self-paced online learning and sitting in a classroom with a face to face teacher. Flipped - Students can view content at their own time, and get assistance with projects or assignments in class with the teacher. Lab Rotation– Similar to station rotations, except students can rotate between a computer lab as a station. Flex Model: Students are able to move through different modules based on their specific needs. The teacher works one-on one or assists onsite during activities, group projects, and individual tutoring.

7 If we teach today’s students’ the same way we taught yesterday’s, we will rob them of tomorrow -Dewey We must make changes to effectively teach 21st century students.
