Jesus Is The Good Shepherd
God would send a shepherd to save and care for His people (Isa. 40:10-11) Jesus is that Good Shepherd (Jn. 10:11) He was not a hireling (Jn. 10:12-13) Jesus owns His sheep (Jn. 10:16) He gave His life for His sheep (Jn. 10:17-18) He purchased them with His own blood (Acts 20:28) One Shepherd - - one flock. No other arrangement

The Shepherd And His Sheep
Jesus loves His sheep Evidenced by His willingness to die for them (Jn. 10:11) He was willing to make this sacrifice (Rom. 5:8-9) Jesus knows His sheep He has a familiarity with them (Heb. 2:9-14; 4:14-15) He knows their works (Rev. 2& 3) He knows them by name (Jn. 10:3; 2 Tim. 2:19)

Jesus’ sheep know Him Jesus leads His sheep The sheep follow Him
They know His voice (Jn. 10:4) They will not follow a stranger (Jn. 10:5) There is mutual recognition (Jn. 10:14) Jesus leads His sheep Psalm 23 mentions this (Psa. 23:2-3) He leads by His word (Jn. 6:68) He leads by example (1 Peter 2:21) The sheep follow Him This is proof of ownership (Jn. 10:26-27) Jesus will give eternal life to His sheep (Jn. 10:28) This is contingent on obeying Him (Heb. 5:9)
