2 Introduction.. Library plays a vital role for an Institution for:
Creation of new knowledge through acquisition; Organization and dissemination of knowledge resources; and Providing value added services. It’s an essential component of the Institute's outstanding research and education mission. It also enables: learning and advancement of knowledge; and promotes discovery and scholarship.

3 Working Hours The Library is open From 8.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m.
for reading and reference purpose on all working days. On Holidays the Library opens from 10.00am to 4.00pm

11 Library Rules : Property Counter
Personal belongings should be kept outside the Library or in Property Counter at owners risk. No Valuable items viz., Money, Mobiles; should be kept in your bag while keeping them in Property Counter Personal Books, Checked Out Books are not allowed for consultation/reference in the library Mobile Should be Switched Off or kept on Silent Mode inside library. A Register for all students and Staff is available at entrance of the library; Students are requested to make their entry in the Register while entering and departing from Library. Access to Library

12 Library Rules- Issuing Books
Identity card is mandatory while visiting and using the library Readers shall not write upon, damage, or make any mark upon any book, journal or magazine, or other material belonging to the library. Any reader observing a defect or damage to any book or manuscript shall point out the same to the Library Staff immediately. Borrowers must satisfy themselves about the physical condition of the book before borrowing. Otherwise they will be responsible for any damage at the time of returning. Books borrowed on a particular day will not be accepted for return on the same day.

13 Library Rules- Issuing Books
Students must return the issued books on or before the date last stamped (or within 15 days from the date of book issued). If any of the issued books are not returned in time, you will have to pay a fine of Rs. 1/- per day in the first week, Rs.2/- per day in the second week, Rs.3/- per day in the third week and so on. Books are required to be presented physically at the counter for renewal. In case of loss of books by the borrower, the borrower must replace the book with latest edition along with overdue charges. Otherwise, the borrower will have to pay twice the market price of the book.

15 Duplicate Library Card
In case you loose your Library Membership Card, a duplicate card can be obtained on payment of Rs. 100/-. Please do not lend your library membership card, as you will be held responsible for any missing pages or lost books issued against your card. No Due Certificate Every student is required to obtain a No Due/Clearance Certificate from the Library before taking their Admit Card or leaving the College after returning the library books.

17 OPAC Web OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue ) is search engine for finding any catalogue information of AGI Library The features of web OPAC is: Search Facility: By specifying Author, Title, Subject and Edition Status of the book: Whether the book is on shelf or issued. Number of copies available in the library Due date for the borrowed books

18 OPAC - Global Search Global Search- enter any keyword and click on search it will show related books list based on your keyword

19 OPAC- Advanced Search Advanced Search- here you can search books with Title, Author, Subject, Branch and Call number wise

20 Arrangement of Library Books
Books are Arranged in Call Number Wise What is Call Number ? The call number is useful in helping to find where the books are located on the shelves. Every book in the library is given a unique call number that is an address for locating the book on the shelf The call number is located on the spine of a book. The call number is made up of two parts: the Dewey Decimal classification number and the first three letters of the author.

22 Borrowing Process Step 1. Student should get their required books from the stack room. Step 2. Hand over the books and Borrower Card ( Write your name and Date on Library Book Card) to the staff available on Issue counter for issue of books. Step 3. Get Due Date stamped from the Check point. Step 4. Take the Issued books from the Delivery counter near the Check Point. Step 5. Books are now issued to be taken away from the Library for a period of 15 days.

23 Reprography Service Library Photocopier is available only for Library books and the documents which are not issued. Students should give requisition at the Reference Section. The charges are Rs for each A4 paper size. Due to copyright issue, the whole book is not allowed for Xeroxing.

24 Reference Section There is a special and exclusive Reading Hall on the first floor. The elegantly designed Reading hall is peaceful, well ventilated and comfortable. Books taken for reference from the stack area need to be kept on the table and not to be merged on the shelves.
