3 The Product Mindset: “Are they buying what you’re selling?”
Technology The Product Mindset Humans Business

4 Learner Experience Design
Instructional Design Address the real challenge with your solutions so that learners can actually make a change. “Any intelligent fool can make things bigger and more complex. It takes a touch of genius—and a lot of courage—to move in the opposite direction.” E. F. Schumacher Design Thinking Don’t assume you know the best solution, ask the learner, test, and iterate. Visual Design It’s time to acknowledge the packaging is almost as important as content. Design Usability & User Research Is the experience easy for the learner? If not, it doesn’t matter how smart you are or instructionally-sound your solution was.

5 Technology Build APIs & Integration Machine Learning & AI Automation
Treat your data as micro-insights, not databases. Make that data available anywhere it can be used to make a better experience. Machine Learning & AI With data, doors open to create personalized experiences that users love and impact the business. Automation In order to scale and sustain your solutions, the busy work of notifications, scheduling, and data entry has to be automated. Cloud Based The power of the cloud for processing, storage, and scale is a building block for your success. Build Code & Engineering While much in learning technology can be purchased off the shelf, look for the right opportunities to build custom solutions to meet business needs. Data Find it. Capture it, Use it. Without it, your solutions can’t be personalized, integrated, or measured.

6 “If you can’t measure it, you can’t improve it.”
Business Impact Agile: Speed to Market Thinking in terms of minimum viable product will allow us to meet business needs much more quickly. “If you can’t measure it, you can’t improve it.” Peter Drucker Learner Engagement With all of that focus on learner experience, we should be able to capture data and tell a story about how our learners feel. And how they feel translates to retention. Business Results Focusing on data from the beginning allows us to tell a story about why the work we’re doing matters. Measure Dashboards & Analytics All of the data in the world is worthless if you can’t make it easy to see and understand. 68% of executives say retaining top talent would demonstrate the success of programs (65% say performance metrics increase) – 2018 LinkedIn Learning Workplace Learning Report

7 The value is in what gets used, not in what gets built.
