2. What is Career Cruising?
It is an internet-based career exploration and planning tool.
It is used by students to explore career and college options.
It helps students develop a career plan.
It can be accessed from school or home!
Students use Career Cruising on the internet to explore career and college options. It will help you develop a career plan. We will be using Career Cruising on the computers in the lab but you can also use it at home.

Interest and Skills Assessment – this is a world-renowned career assessment tool to help people identify suitable career options based on their interests and skills
Career Profiles – this provides a thorough and up-to-date information about hundreds of different occupations, including direct links between careers and college programs.
Multimedia Interviews – this includes interviews with real people in each occupation, which add depth and realism to career profiles.
College and Financial Aid Information – this provides comprehensive college and financial aid information, with a number of useful search tools to help students find the right college and the right scholarships
Individual Learning Plan – this is available online, so students can develop their education and career plans from wherever they access Career Cruising.
Resume Builder – this is integrated with the portfolio to help students format and print professional-looking resumes quickly and easily

The ILP is completed by using Career Cruising
It begins in 6th grade and continues through high school
You can even use it throughout college!
Students across Kentucky are now required to complete an Individual Learning Plan (ILP).

On your ILP Homepage under Quick Links click on Things to Remember and read the information
At the bottom of that page click on About the ILP and read the instructions
Go back to your Homepage and click the blue Career Cruising and click Career Matchmaker
Click the grey New Matchmaker Session button in the middle of this page
Click on Answer More Questions and answer remaining questions or click Review My Answers to update your choices
Always click SAVE TO MY ILP
Review your TOP 40 careers listed

Review each of the careers finding out what the job description is, earnings, education required, etc….
Complete the Word graphic organizer that is explained by the teacher

12. How do you save your results?
Click on the SAVE TO MY ILP button near the bottom of the menu on the right hand side of the page
Click a check mark on Yes, I have reviewed and revised this portion of my ILP, click OK
Click save again which will begin the completion process of your ILP
When you reach 83% on your ILP status bar raise your hand to let your teacher know
Click Logout on your ILP homepage at the end of class before you log off your computer
