1 Year 9 Subject Selection TOYS

2 Course Description Toys.
The focus of the toys unit is on safety and design, both during construction and the actual toy itself. Students need to be aware that toys are generally designed for small children and as such need to be robust, smooth, avoid pinch points and injury if they are fallen on.. Work needs to be completed to a high standard. The first toy made is a small vehicle (car) with discussion and focus on the safety requirements of toys. The major project should challenge the students rather than the teacher. They will plan what they are going to make and make some effort to work out how they are going to construct it. Simple designs often work better and are more achievable for students.
