Emblem and Mascot The Emblem
The emblem, depicting the image of three people-you, me, him/her holding hands together, symbolizes the big family of mankind. Inspired by the shape of the Chinese character (meaning the world), the design conveys the organizers' wish to host an Expo which is of global scale and which showcases the diversified urban cultures of the world.

Expo Boulevard The Expo Boulevard, which links four permanent buildings, the riverside celebration plaza and metro stations, will be both a transportation hub and a sightseeing venue and planned to be finished by the end of 2009.

Expo Center Covering an area of about 140,000 sqm, the Expo Center will be the venue for forums, conferences, VIP reception, grand banquets and Media Center during the Expo. The construction was launched in June, 2007, with smooth progress so far.

Theme Pavilions There are three theme pavilions to be built from scratch, namely, the Pavilion for Urbanian, the pavilion for Urban Being and the Pavilion for Urban Planet. The construction was launched on November 10, 2007.

China Pavilion China Pavilion, with 20,000-sqm total floor area, features a traditional style red architecture called “oriental crown”, and contains rich elements of Chinese culture and could well display Chinese wisdom.

Art Performance Center
With a flying saucer structure, the 80,000-sqm Art Performance Center will house various cultural performances and cultural activities during the Expo period.

Construction Land handover to the participants
The preparations for landing over the land to the participating countries which will build pavilions by themselves are largely completed. The construction of the rented pavilions and the joint pavilions to be built by the Organizer for the participants is also in full swing.

International Participation Confirmation Up to today, 177 countries and 44 international organizations have confirmed their participation in the Shanghai World Expo, and among them, 130 countries and international organizations have appointed their Commissioners-General of Section.
