Bicameral means two parts

4 3. The U.K.’s Parliament is composed of two parts: he House of Lords and the House of Commons. Which of the two has more influence in the government. Why? The House of Commons has more influence because the Prime Minister is chosen from this part of the legislature. They also make the laws and control the budget!!!!! Video

5 5.What role does the United Kingdom’s monarch play in their government?
The UK’s monarch is the head of state whose duties are mostly ceremonial and restricted by the constitution of the UK.

6 6.What is the difference between Germany’s Chancellor and Germany’s President?
The Chancellor is the head of government (chief executive) and head of military, while the President is the Head of State whose role is more ceremonial (much like that of the UK’s monarch)

7 7.Explain why Germany has a federal system
Germany is a federal system because power is divided between member states and the central government.

8 7. What do you think the term “suffrage” means?
Suffrage refers to the legal voting age in a country

9 8. Russia has some aspects of parliamentary democracy and some aspects presidential democracy. Explain why this is so The head of state is elected by the people which is an aspect of Presidential, but the head of government (prime minister) is chosen by the president which is an aspect of Parliamentary.

10 Russia is considered to have a democracy; however, their level of freedom is considered less than many other democratic countries. Explain why this is so • The legislative branch is far weaker than the executive (can pass laws without the legislature’s consent) • The government restricts information to the public by influencing the media to censor information
