Fig. 1 (A) Clinical course. HAART but not paromomycin led to clinical improvement with resolution of diarrhea, weight gain, and eradication of cryptosporidia from the gastrointestinal tract in a patient with AIDS with cryptosporidiosis. (B) Virologic and immunologic changes. A similar reduction of the viral load was seen in both mucosa and blood, and CD4 T lymphocytes increased in both compartments.
