The Book Thief Turn to page 83. We’re going to read to page 96, and then you’ll read and annotate pages on your own. As we read: Make sure you’re paying attention and annotating as we go! It will help you remember what’s happening. As you read: Don’t forget to annotate! You will need at least two well-thought out, 2+ sentence annotation per page (4 sentences total per page).

Goals for Today… Text Comprehension/Analysis Questions: After we read, respond to the questions on the front of your handout. Be sure to explain your responses fully and provide supporting textual evidence if necessary. Character Letter: On the back of your handout, write a letter to one of the characters at this point in The Book Thief (Death, Liesel, Hans, Rosa, Rudy, or Kurt). Imagine your character will really get your letter, and it might even change the outcome of the book. Consider: What will you say to them? Comforting words? Some advice? A warning? A question? The direction of this letter will be up to you, but you will need to write at least 10 sentences for full credit.
