Literacy
This term the children will be learning two stories. During the lessons we will explore each story through many drama techniques & games that will increase the children's imagination, vocabulary & writing skills. The children will also learn how to alter stories, events & characters. Non-fiction tasks & poetry will all be linked with the stories.
Computing
The children will explore the terms ‘algorithms’, ‘programming’ & ‘debugging’. They will learn how to control & instruct mechanical robots & plan routes for them to move within.
Numeracy
This term the children will continue to work through the Singapore Maths scheme. They will explore & use different mathematical skills that will support them when faced with +, -, questions, length, shape and space and word problems.
History
The children will learn about the Space Race between the USA & USSR. They will also learn about the lives of Neil Armstrong & Buzz Aldrin, & how their achievements contributed to international community.
Empowering Learners
The children will explore what it means to be an ‘Effective Participator’. They will focus on good listening skills & following instructions.
The First Hippo on the Moon RE
This term the class will focus upon Christian stories from the New Testament & we will ask why are religious stories special, sacred and important. We will learn about the Easter story. PE
The children will be taught by outside agency Premier Sports. Dance & invasion games will be covered this term.
Music
The children will learn how to listen, repeat & create their own beat / rhythm using their voices, bodies & different instruments. They will learn to sing, compose & perform together.
Design Technology
In DT the children will explore the processes used to alter, prepare & cook different fruit & veg. The children will think about how is altered & stored on the International Space Station, & design packaging for their own made healthy meal.
Science
The children will focus upon the changing seasons. They will observe and measure rainfall and temperatures during winter.
