There will be 2 special sessions Day 1 (Tues 20th): Barriers and best practice in SPI Day 2 (Wed 21st): Ways forward for improving SPI Group working rather than lecture theatre Aiming to identify specific practical measures relevant to: Policy makers Researchers Project coordinators / research proposal managers

Overview Some example problems Group work (table by table): Collation of perceived problems, hindrances (noting the source – researcher, policy maker, manager etc.) Prioritise top 5 Outputs: Long list of perceived problems and source Indicative priorities

8 Session 2: Possible Solutions
Overview & examples of good practice Group work (table by table) (twice): Prioritised problems – 1 per table; 6 tables Group work by table  solutions Group work  prioritise possible solutions Outputs: Long list of possible solutions Prioritised actions for top 6 Think in terms of immediate, short term (<3 yrs), longer term

9 Participate! - In person or Online?
More effective participating in person But limited to ~50 people Open up an online version prior and in parallel to the conference Broaden our range for interaction Extend the list of potential problems and potential solutions
