1 Does Repeated Lung Resection Provide Long-Term Survival for Recurrent Pulmonary Metastases of Colorectal Cancer? Results of a Retrospective Japanese Multicenter Study  Tomoyuki Hishida, MD, Masahiro Tsuboi, MD, Takehiro Okumura, MD, Narikazu Boku, MD, Yasuhisa Ohde, MD, Yukinori Sakao, MD, Katsuo Yoshiya, MD, Ichinosuke Hyodo, MD, Keita Mori, MS, Haruhiko Kondo, MD  The Annals of Thoracic Surgery  Volume 103, Issue 2, Pages (February 2017) DOI: /j.athoracsur Copyright © 2017 The Society of Thoracic Surgeons Terms and Conditions

2 Fig 1 Overall survival (OS) curves in patients who had lung-limited recurrence. (A) OS-1 curve for all patients after the detection of lung-limited recurrence (5-year OS-1 rate, 58.7%) and OS-2 curves for (B) patients after the first repeated lung resection (RLR) (5-year OS-2 rate, 75.5%) and (C) second RLR (5-year OS-2 rate, 55.1%). (OS-1 = the period from date of detection of lung-limited recurrence to date of death from any cause or last follow-up for living patients; OS-2 = period from date of RLR to date of death from any cause or last follow-up for living patients.) 3 Fig 2 Overall survival (OS-2) curves after the first repeated lung resection (RLR) stratified according to the number of poor prognostic factors, ie, primary rectal tumor and liver metastasis at initial lung metastasectomy. Patients with a score of 0 (patients with colon cancer without liver metastasis at the initial lung metastasectomy) showed the best survival after the first RLR (5-year OS-2 rate, 82.6%). Conversely, patients with a score of 2 (patients with rectal cancer and liver metastases at the initial lung metastasectomy) had a 4-year OS-2 rate of 20%. (OS-2 = period from date of RLR to date of death from any cause or last follow-up for living patients.)
