True love takes action (1-4)

Boaz took steps to provide redemption:
He made contact with the nearer kinsman (1) He recruited elders (2) He informed the nearer kinsman about Naomi’s land (3-4a) The nearer kinsman said he would provide redemption (4b)

True love is willing to pay the price (5-6)

There is quite a contrast between Boaz and the nearer kinsman:
Boaz informed the kinsman of the price (5) The kinsman decided the price was too high (6)

True love is willing to be accountable (7-10)

Notice the nearer kinsman gave up his right to redemption (7-8)
Notice Boaz made a public commitment to be a faithful redeemer (9-10) He promised to be a good husband to Ruth He promised to maintain the name of the dead

True love receives God’s blessing (11-12)

The people asked the Lord to bless Ruth (11a)
The people asked the Lord to bless Boaz (11b) The people asked the Lord to bless their offspring (12)

The move to Moab was a bad thing:
They left the Promised Land They married non-believers Naomi lost her husband and sons The move to Moab became a good thing: Ruth gained salvation; Boaz gained a godly wife; Boaz and Ruth gained a special son; Naomi gained a special daughter-in-law, son-in-law, and grandson; Israel gained a godly king; the world gained a Savior; the Lord gained praise

Three lessons from Ruth:
1. Learn to see God in the ordinary events of life. Learn to see God in the confusing events of life. Learn to magnify God in all the events of life.
