2. A New Face Lift
Facebook is a social networking site where people can post pictures, events, blogs and messages
Facebook is rolling out it’s prototype version of their photo uploader to all users
Last Friday was the day Facebook announced its release
The new version of the photo uploader has been in the works since mid November
This will allow users to leave Facebook all together when downloading pictures

3. Information Systems
Facebook spec sheet only allows .jpg, .gif, .bmp, and .png files to work
But did say the new version supports a few more photo formats
This means any raw images cannot be downloaded to your profile
Over 28 million people are Facebook users
A Mac or PC can be used for this version upgrade

4. What does this mean for Network Sharing?
Previously users would have to keep a separate window open while their images were getting downloaded
Facebook currently gets 2.5 million photos uploaded a month
Any small change that can make it easier for people to download pictures to their profiles, can have a huge impact on how fast and how much bigger Facebook’s photo collection will get

5. Competitors
Facebook’s main competitors are Myspace, UTube, AOL Messenger and Twitter
Facebook just recently joined up with Twitter
Facebook is the #1 social network website
They focus on college students and groups that are looking to gain more exposure

6. Problems
The new version does require a browser plug in, unlike it’s last version
This is a small inconvenience for a big reward
Being able to close out of your download and go do something else is huge
Can prevent viruses and spam
