1. Welcome to First Grade! Hello First Grade Families!
I am so excited to start this year! My name is Mrs. Morrison (or Mrs. Zen) and I will be your first-grade teacher! I hope you have had a wonderful summer! I cannot wait to hear all about it! I have spent it in the great outdoors, camping, wakeboarding, surfing and horseback riding with my husband, Tim and daughter Ashlyn!
The first week of school will be a lot of fun! Don’t stress! Everyone might be a little nervous, even me! We will spend a lot of time getting to know each other, doing fun art projects, playing games and learning routines! I love the Seahawks, elephants and horses (I actually own a horse named Thunder, you will see and hear all about him)! I actually went to school right here on Mercer Island at Island Park Elementary! I went to college right here in Seattle and got my Bachelors in Teaching at Seattle Pacific University! This will be my second-year teaching. I got my degree when I was 27 and have been teaching ever since. If I started teaching when I was 27 and have taught for one year, how old does that make me?
First Grade is my favorite because we read some pretty big books with some pretty big word! Don’t worry, not on the first day! We also have a lot of fun projects and games with our 4th grade buddies! You will be writing cool books and getting really good with your numbers and counting. No matter what, I know you will learn something amazing this year and you will have at least one AMAZING memory! (If not 10 great memories, or more!)
