The family: A social grouping, normally living in the same dwelling. The members may be related to each other by ties of marriage, descent, adoption or other legal ties, e.g. civil partnerships. Nuclear family: A term used to refer to the two-generation household consisting of parent(s) and their children. The education system: The education system is a formal institution providing learning and training for work but also a context for passing on the culture of a society from one generation to another. The healthcare services: The statutory, private, voluntary and informal services that provide for a society's health and well-being, e.g. the NHS, BUPA, Mind, or Macmillan nurses. © Owned by or under licence to Harcourt Education Ltd 2007
