CAUSES Depression can pop up for a variety of reasons. Some people experience depression during serious medical illness. Others, while life changes occur, such as a move or death of loved ones. Some people may also have a family history of depression.

PREVALENCE Twenty-five percent of woman suffer from this disease. Nearly twice as many women than men suffer from depression every year. Depression is even more common for young people.

SIGNS & SYMPTOMS Feeling sad or “Empty”
Loss of interest in favorite activities Feeling very tired Overeating or not wanting to eat at all Thoughts of suicide, suicide attempts Not being able to concentrate or remember details

MOST AT RISK Depression can strike anyone at any age or at any stage of their life, but there are certain factors that contribute more strongly to the creation of depression in someone. More women are diagnosed with depression than men. The ones who are at the highest risk for depression, now a days, are teens.
