Tissue Damage and Repair

After tissue damage has occurred, the following steps are taken to repair the tissue:
Causes inflammation- Dilation of blood vessels Increase in vessel permeability- 4 Classic Signs Redness Heat Swelling Pain

2. Construction of Clot- -”walls off” injured area -scab forms

3. Blood clot replaced w/ Granulation tissue
-phagocytes remove clot -regeneration of epithelium under scab -new capillaries to restore blood flow Figure 4.13b

4. Regeneration -surface epithelium identical to original tissue -scar tissue -no visibility of scar OR Fibrosis -collagen replaces original cells -visibility of scar -loss of function

EASY- Epithelium-adipose, bone, smooth muscle POOR-Skeletal muscle, cartilage NONE/ SCAR TX- Cardiac muscle, neurons
