When multiplying whole numbers that end in zeros, multiply the non-zero digits. Then count the zeros in both numbers and add them to the answer.
Example #1 40 X 600
Step 1: Start by multiplying non-zero numbers
4 X 6 = 24
Step 2: Add the number of zeros in the question
to the answer. 3 zeros = 24000

Step 1: When multiplying stack numbers one on top of the other 53

Step 2: Start with the digit furthest to the right on the bottom number and multiply by each digit of the top number moving right to left. Then move through each of the remaining digits of the bottom number doing the same thing. 10 6 + 1 4 8 4

Step 1: When multiplying decimals, multiply as with non-decimal numbers. Then add the total number of decimal places in the question to the answer

There are 5 decimal places in the question so put the decimal place 5 spots from the right in the answer. =
