2 What is a problem? “A problem arises when you are seeking a goal and the immediate course of action is not apparent.” Marilyn Burns Problem solving and word problems are two different ideas.

3 How do you teach children to do problem solving or constructive response problems?
First we will teach the process 1 in whole groups, 2 then let them work in small groups and 3 then, let them work individually on constructive response items or Exemplars. 4
