2. Constructed Responses
- Constructed response questions ask you to apply your knowledge and understanding in a short written answer.
- To be successful, you need to ensure that you are reading the entire prompt!
- One strategy for answering constructed responses involves underlining key words in the prompt such as: explain, elaborate, or illustrate
- Restate the prompt in your own words to make sure that you are understanding it
- Use concrete details—something specific—to explain each part of your response

3. Posing The Question—
On page 19, Hoose refers to Hitler’s words, “He alone who gains the youth, owns the future.” Why were young people so important to Hitler? Do you agree with this statement? Explain. Where else have you seen young people play such an important role?
