Earnscliffe Arts Program: CREATE. INTEGRATE. INNOVATE.
Earnscliffe E-Arts is open to all students currently in Gr. 6, living north of the 401 and outside of Peel Region. An Integrated Regional Arts program Based on the full Ontario Curriculum Designed for students with a strong affinity for the Arts, including drama, dance, music, and visual arts Students explore connections between the arts and other core subjects

How is Earnscliffe Arts Different?
Opportunities for students to explore their artistic interests are embedded into the program through the creative process Strong cross-curricular links with core curriculum, including language, math, science and social studies Emphasis on creativity, integrating big ideas, and innovative problem-solving Students do not need to be a straight A student to get into our Program, but we do expect them to maintain their grades. We do expect good or excellent learning skills—students with mostly satisfactory or needs improvement would have difficulties with the program. 4

Students will have extended learning engagements with: Band or Strings Art-focused field trips In-school performances/workshops/guest artists Performance showcases

Is the Arts Program for Me?
You are interested in learning through the Arts You are creative and curious You like to try new things and take risks You are an independent learner You enjoy collaborating with others $200 program fee – includes QE student fee, for workshops, guest speakers, specialized art supplies, field trips, etc. which enhance the learning for the students 6

HOW DO I APPLY Applications Open: Monday January 28th 2019
Deadline: Monday February 11th at 3pm Cost of Application is $40 non refundable application fee. Online payment made with the application. Visit the Peel Board Regional Arts page at lementary-rlcp/Pages/default.aspx You can find this page (above) at the Earnscliffe Senior Public School page under the Regional Arts tab Sub tab: Application selection process.

HOW DO I APPLY Paperwork drop off (if applicable):
Report cards for out of board or private school and any IEPs If you do not have easy online access there is assistance available at the school… From: 9am- 2pm Dates: February 6 and Please use a current and correct address

What’s Next? The Participation Component
When: Either February 19th & February 26th, 5:00-7:00 pm, 2019 Where: Earnscliffe Senior Public School Important Information: No portfolio or preparation is required Students are NOT required to have professional training Students will have to be promptly dropped off at 5pm and picked up at 7pm Please provide a small snack as they will be given a nutrition break *Notification of assigned Selection Day (by Feb. 15) via * 17

The Participation Component
We will be looking for… Active participation Cooperation with others Listening to the speaker Following instructions Working independently Originality and creativity A positive attitude! Approximately 1.5 hour session, rotating through 4 stations: music, dance, drama visual arts 18

Students will have the opportunity to demonstrate Collaboration, Initiative and Creativity through each of Drama, Dance, Music and Visual Arts Each area receives equal weighting Selection decisions are based upon: Participation Component + Report Cards Focus on strong learning skills Spaces may become available anytime between May 1st and June 29th Acceptance of Offer – April 19 deadline -- 4:00 pm 19

The Fees 40.00 non-refundable application fee
$ payable upon acceptance of offer – Breakdown: $ annual program fee (workshops, guest speakers, field-trips, program materials, etc.) instrument rental fee (varies annually) $430.00 Program fee to be paid online Instrument rental through Cosmo Music

Acceptance into the Program
Based on a 2-step process Step 1: Review of most recent report cards (subject marks and learning skills) Participation Component Step 2:If application criteria met, student will be entered into random selection process Step 3: Three rounds of offers While it varies from year to year, field trips to various arts venues—art galleries, theatrical productions, dance performances, guest performers and workshops Workshops focus on the creative process, giving students time to develop their creativity and skills through varied types of Arts. 22

Round One- Offers Round Two- Offers Wait List Offer- Will receive Wednesday April 10 AFTER 3pm Offer- Will receive Thursday April 18 AFTER 3pm Will receive Tuesday, April 30 AFTER 3pm Acceptance of Offer Deadline (including fees) Wednesday April 17 BEFORE 3pm Acceptance of Offer Deadline (including fees) Thursday April 25 BEFORE 3pm Closes: June 29th

Acceptance into the Program
If we have more than 87 successful applicants for Grade 6: All names of successful applicants will be put in a computerized Random Selection Process First 87 names drawn will be offered space Successful applicants whose names were not drawn will be put on the Wait List 24

Other important information
Transportation: responsibility of the parents / guardians Peel does not provide busing for Regional Programs Some families arrange private busing through: Applications are online at Grade 6 entry only Acceptance in our program does not guarantee acceptance to Mayfield Secondary School Students do not need to be taking private music, drama, art or dance classes to be successful in the program. Students on IEP’s: Parents should inform the school prior to the Participation Component if any accommodations are required. 25

Application Period: Mon., Jan. 28 – Mon., Feb. 11 before 3pm Participation Component: Tues, Feb. 19 or Tues, Feb 26 First round acceptance offers issued: April 10 after 3pm First round offers accepted: before 3pm April 17 Second round acceptance offers issued: Apr. 18 after 3pm Second round offers accepted: by Apr. 25 before 3pm Third round offers: Apr. 30 after 3pm Application Link will be operational after midnight tonight. 26

Staff will be available to field questions about the program
Q&A Staff will be available to field questions about the program Once we have scored the report card and the data from the Participation Component, we will determine which applicants were successful. If we have more than 56 successful applicants, their names will be entered into the random selection process and the first 56 names drawn will be offered a space in the program. Successful applicants whose names are not drawn will be placed on the wait list. 2nd round acceptances – April 23 – 30; Waitlist closes June 28 Spaces may become available anytime between May 1st and June 28th 27
