1 Listen to God Jeremiah 23:16-18 Psalm 81:8
Perhaps the most fundamental thing any person who desires a relationship with God must do is listen to Him. Israel didn’t do it. Do we? Jeremiah 23:16-18 Psalm 81:8

2 God’s Plea to Israel was “Listen!”
It is the central theme of Psalm 81. It was His plea to Israel from early on (Deuteronomy 6:4-5; 13:1-4). It was often repeated in the latter prophets (Isaiah 51:1-7). Yet, Israel’s long history is characterized by a failure to listen (Nehemiah 9:30).

3 God’s Plea to us is “Listen!”
Eight times in Matthew, Mark, and Luke, Jesus commands, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear!” John’s gospel contains equally urgent pleas (John 8:47; 10:27). In the book of Revelation, each of the seven churches is told, “He who as an ear to hear, let him hear” (2:7, 11, 17; 29; 3:6, 13, 22).

4 Am I Listening to God? (James 1:19-25)
In my family relationships? (Ephesians 5 & 6) When it comes to the focus of my life? (Matthew 6:33; Colossians 3:1) In my attitude toward money? (1 Timothy 6:10, 17-18) When it comes to my temper, my speech, my attitudes toward others (Eph. 4:25-32)

5 Am I Listening to God? (James 1:19-25)
In the matter of taking personal vengeance? (Romans 12:19) When it comes to respecting civil laws and those who make them? (Romans 13:1-7; 1 Peter 2:13) When it comes to loving my enemies and praying for them? (Matthew 5:44; Thessalonians 5:17) When it comes to dealing with temptation and sin? (1 Corinthians 10:13; 1 John 1:9)
